The current government of Andhra Pradesh has revised existing sand policy in the state. According to the new Sand policy the sand will be supplied free of cost to the people of Andhra Pradesh. New Sand Policy in AP came into existence effective from 08th July 2024 6 am.

According to the free sand policy of Andhra Pradesh sand would be supplied at free of cost however the beneficiaries have to bear certain charges related to mining and seigniorage.
Below are the detailed guidelines of Andhra Pradesh free sand policy:
- Free sand policy Andhra Pradesh begins from July 8 2024 across the state.
- Sand mining is allowed between 6 am and 6 pm every day.
- Though sand is supplied free of cost, beneficiaries will be paying 88 as seigniorage charges per metric tonne and 30 rupees to the contractor per metric tonne for mining the sand and 20 as maintenance fee per metric tonne. The total amount shall be displayed at the sand points along with 18% GST.
- Each beneficiary can avail 20 metric tons of sand per day. Transport charges shall also be borne by the beneficiary.
- VRO, VRA and Staff of Village ward secretariats shall be appointed as in charge and the decision on whom to appoint lies with district collectors.
- Vigilance system has been appointed for eradicating the corruption and illegal activities at the sand points.
- Option for traditional transport through Bullock carts is permitted at small river reaches and lakes.
- The amount collected under seigniorage shall be transferred to the Local administrative bodies.
For any queries and complaints each district shall be setting up unique numbers for the beneficiaries.
