Silent features of NEST 2024
Offers 5 years integrated M.Sc programme in Biological, Chemical, Mathematical and Physical sciences at NISER and UM-DAE CEBS
There are a total of 200 seats in NISER and 50 seats in UM-DAE
The candidates admitted to the programme in NISER, or CEBS, are eligible to receive an annual scholarship of Rs 60,000 through the DISHA program of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. In addition, the scholarship recipients receive a grant of Rs 20,000 per annum for the summer internship.
Students who have excelled in all semesters can participate in Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BHARK) Training School directly for interview without taking the exam. Those who excel in this can serve as Scientific Officers in Bhark after training
Eligible Criteria for NEST 2024
Passed the XII standard board examination in the science stream in the years 2022 or 2023 or has appeared in 2024 from any recognised board in India.
Secures at least 60% in aggregate in the XII standard board examination. For SC/ST/Divyangjan candidates, the requirement is 55%.
Examination Pattern for NEST 2024
The exam will be conducted online in objective mode
Questions will be in English and Hindi medium
These are asked from 4 sections Questions will come from Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics subjects from Section 1 to 4.
Each section is allotted 60 marks. There will be 20 questions in each section.
3 marks for correct answer. One mark will be deducted for wrong answer
During the preparation of the merit list, the three best scores from the four sections will be considered. In other words, the worst score among the four sections would not be considered for the merit list calculation
As merit list calculation will be performed on marks obtained in the best three sections, the ‘total’ marks for NEST 2024 become 180.
