However the passbook will be the base document for the waiver as clarified by the CM.

Telangana Farm Loan Waiver Key points:

  • A loan waiver of up to two lakhs is applicable for every farmer family owning land in Telangana.
  • This waiver is applicable for short term loans newly taken or renewed by the farmers between 12-12-2018 to 09-12-2023.
  • This loan waiver is applicable to the principal and interest amount taken by the farmers.
  • The government will adopt PDS or food security card database as base to verify details of farmer family.
  • The Aadhaar card number mapped to food security card i.e. ration card and the Aadhaar number in the bank pass book where the loan was taken are mapped to identify the eligible beneficiaries.
  • The loan waiver amount is directly credited to the loan account of the beneficiary through DBT mode. Thus the debt is paid.
  • If the loan amount is more than two lakhs (including principal and interest) such person has to pay the amount above two lakhs to the bank first. After that the state government waives off the amount up to two lakhs.

This loan waiver process is implemented under the supervision of Commissioner and Director of Agriculture Department. The state government will be maintaining a special portal for this purpose. A nodal officer will also be appointed for the implementation of this scheme in each bank.
