Sankranti holidays extended in Andhra Pradesh by 3 days

The Government of Andhra Pradesh and the department of school education has released a circular informing all the district education officers in the state on the extension of Sankranti holidays for the schools in the state.

Earlier Sankranthi Holidays were declared from 09.01.2024 to 18.01.2024 (10 days) for all Primary and High Schools in the
state, under various managements including Govt., ZPP / MPP, Aided,
Private un-aided Schools for the Academic Year 2023-24.

The government has stated that numerous requests were received from Parents and
Teachers requesting to extend the Sankranthi Holidays for additional two
days i.e., 19.01.2024 & 20.01.2024.

In consideration of the requests,
The government has decided to extend the Sankranthi Holidays for an additional 2 days, i.e., 19.01.2024 & 20.01.2024 which is followed by Sunday and thus the Schools shall re-open on 22.01.2024.

Sankranti holidays revised: 09.01.2024 till 21.01.2024


However, In order to ensure that the academic schedule remains intact, all the
District Education Officers in the State are instructed to conduct compensatory classes for these two days during the upcoming General Holidays in the Academic Year 2023-24 and also instructed to inform all the Headmasters of all Govt., ZPP / MPP, Aided, Pvt. Un-aided schools in
the State belonging to all managements and boards to abide by these instructions scrupulously without any deviation.
