Good news for motorists in Telangan, The state government has given huge discount pending challans. 80 percent discount on two wheelers, 60 percent discount on four wheelers and autos has been announced.
Also, 50 percent discount on pending challan on lorries and other heavy vehicles has been announced. From the 26th of December month to 10th of January 2024, payment of discounted challans to be made available.
As on March 31, last year, around 2.4 crore challans were pending in the state. With the intention of reducing these, a special subsidy was announced last year. 75 percent discount for two-wheelers and 50 percent discount for others. This initiative got an incredible response. Within just 45 days, up to Rs.300 crores pending dues were collected. About 65 percent of the invoices had been paid.
Post that again it is understood that pending count has increased significantly. By the end of last month, the number of challans is estimated to have reached two crore again. In this context, the government has announced the latest concession. This discount is applicable only to those who pay the challan within the specified window.
The challan discounts offered by the State Government are as follows:
1) For push carts (39B cases) 10% payable and 90% exempted (hence discount 90%)
2) For RTC drivers, 10% payable and 90% exempted (ie 90% discount)
3 ) For 2Wheeler (bikes etc.) and 3 Wheeler (autos etc.), just 20% of the challan amount to be paid and 80% discount is provided. (ie deduction is 80% )
4) For LMVs(cars, 4W etc.) and HMVs (trucks etc.) 40% to be paid and 60% exempted (ie 60% discount) .
During the last discount offer given last year March many travelers from Hyderabad/ Cyberabad/ Rachakonda availed this discount offer and cleared their pending challans. But due to lack of awareness from the districts/rural areas of Telangana many have not availed the discount offer properly. This time the media has been requested to give wide publicity to this discount offer by the government and to clear pending challans on their vehicles.
