The Odisha Government has decided to provide free Tea and other amenities during night for Lorry Drivers all over the state.
Accordingly the Odisha Transport Department has decided to distribute free tea at night to lorry drivers plying on the roads at Dhabas and Hotels .
The minister of the Transport department Tukuni Sahu Speaking to the reporters in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, she said that many people are dying due to frequent accidents on the roads and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has ordered to control this situation. People are already being made aware that two-wheelers should not be driven without helmets. CM had also mentioned that the drivers of goods transport vehicles spend sleepless nights and accidents might happen in the blink of an eye. Keeping this situation in mind, it has been decided to distribute free tea to lorry drivers in dhabas and hotels on the roads, she revealed.
The Minister revealed that the government would bear this cost. Along with tea arrangements will also be made at these places such that the drivers can drink tea and rest for a while.
The government also added that lorry terminals would be constructed in 30 districts of Odisha with sleeping and bathing facilities for Lorry Drivers. Tea and Coffee would be made available at these places.
