The Government of Telangana recently issued clear guidelines for the farm loan waiver in the state. This is being implemented under the Runa mafi scheme.

First phase of firm loan up to the loan amount of Rs 100000 will be waived off today, on July 18th across the state. The second phase with the state government will waive off the loans up to the amount of rs 200000 rupees. Around 11.50 lakh farmers will be benefited through the first phase loan waiver.
Around 76 lakh beneficiaries are going to be benefited through the overall waiver of farm loan. Waiver of farm loan Runa mafi shall be completed by August 3rd as confirmed by the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
Earlier as part of guidelines the state government stated that it would consider white ration card or food security card for identifying the beneficiaries, however later chief minister had clarified that ration card is only referred to identify the family members and the government will also wave of the farm loan even to those farmers would not hold ration card.
Also as per the guidelines those who are having the loan of amount greater than 2 lakh can pay the extra amount which is additional to 2 lakh. post which the government will waive the amount up to 2 lakh Rupees. For example if someone has 2.5 lakh rupees of farm loan, that farmer can pay 50000 rupees so that the remaining 2 lakh outstanding will be paid by the government to the bank to waive off the loan.
