Karnataka govt has shared good news for electricity beneficiaries in the state. State decides to waive off Rupees 389 Crore arrears against three old power schemes in the state.

As announced by Karnataka Energy Minister KJ George, Karnataka Govt decides to waive off ₹389 crore arrears under the following three schemes: ‘Kuteera Bhagya’, ‘Bhagya Jyoti’ and ‘Amruta Jyoti’ schemes. Beneficiaries under this scheme were getting free or subsidized electricity in past and had not paid certain dues.

“Earlier, beneficiaries of ‘Kuteera Bhagya’ and ‘Bhagya Jyoti’ were getting 40 units and ‘Amruta Jyoti’ beneficiaries 75 units. We have decided that those getting 40 units will now get 50 units plus 10 units and those getting 75 units will get an additional 10 per cent,” as mentioned by George.

All these three schemes have been now merged with “Gruha Jyothi” scheme , under which Karnataka govt provides 200 units of free electricity to eligible households.
