1. About Gruha Jyothi Scheme

Gruha Jyothi Scheme is one of the five public welfare schemes launched in 2023 by the Congress government which aims to provide assistance to the residents of the state in the form of electricity subsidy.
Under this scheme electricity subsidy up to 200 units shall be provided to each household every month.
• The Gruha Jyothi Yojana has been launched to improve the living conditions of people in the state of Karnataka. Under this scheme, households are provided with 200 units of free electricity without any charges. Up to 200 units of consumption, they need not to pay the electricity bill. This program aims to address the economic challenges faced by residents regarding electricity expenses. To apply for the Karnataka Free Electricity Scheme, individuals can opt either online or offline application mode. Registrations for this scheme started on June 18, 2023.
• Karnataka Gruha Jyothi Scheme is also called:- "Karnataka Free Electricity Scheme" in which free of cost electricity will be provided to every household of Karnataka for up to 200 units consumption.
• Subsidized Electricity Bill will be generated to the eligible household of Karnataka from 1st of August 2023. (For previous month consumption).
• Subsidized bill up to 200 units will be adjusted against the bill generated in the coming month.
• Eligible Household have to register themselves first to avail the free of cost electricity under Gruha Jyothi Scheme.
• Registration of Gruha Jyothi Scheme is started from 18th of June 2023.
• Beneficiary can apply or register for Gruha Jyothi Scheme through 2 ways :-
o Through Karnataka Gruha Jyothi Scheme Online Application Form.
o Through Karnataka Gruha Jyothi Scheme Offline Application Form.

2. Eligibility for Karnataka Gruha Jyothi Scheme

• Applicant should be a Permanent Resident of Karnataka.
• Applicant should have Household Electricity Connection.
• Household of Applicant consumes less than 200 Units of Electricity per Month.
• Under Karnataka Gruha Jyothi Scheme, Government of Karnataka will provide 200 Units of Electricity per Month Free of Cost to every household of Karnataka.
• This means, no electricity charge will be paid by those households under Karnataka Gruha Jyothi Scheme who consumes less than 200 units of electricity per month.
• Permanent Residents of Karnataka who has household electricity connection at home are eligible to avail the benefit of free of cost electricity under Karnataka Gruha Jyothi Scheme.
• If any household consumes more than 200 Units of Electricity per month then those households are not eligible/ ineligible to get free of cost electricity under Karnataka Government's Gruha Jyothi Scheme.
• No Free Electricity will be provided to those consumers who has commercial connection in their name.
• Tenant Residents are also eligible for free of cost electricity up to 200 units under Gruha Jyothi Scheme.
• Subsidized Electricity Bill will be generated to the eligible household of Karnataka from 1st of August 2023. (For July 2023 Consumption).

3. Benefits for Karnataka Gruha Jyothi Scheme

• The following benefits will be provided to eligible household of Karnataka under Karnataka Gruha Jyothi Scheme :-
o Free Electricity will be provided up to 200 Units Electricity Consumption per Month.
o No Amount will be charged from those household who consumes less than 200 Electricity Units per Month.

4. Documents Required for Karnataka Gruha Jyothi Scheme

• The following documents will be required to avail the benefit of Karnataka Gruha Jyothi Scheme :-
o Aadhar Card.
o Electricity Connection Number.
o Voter Identity Card.
o Rent/ Lease Agreement. (In Case of Tenant Beneficiary)
o Mobile Number.

5. Online Application Procedure of Karnataka Gruha Jyothi Scheme

• Eligible Household Beneficiary can avail the benefit of free electricity up to 200 units by filling the Online Application Form of Gruha Jyothi Scheme.
• Online Application Form of Karnataka Gruha Jyothi Scheme is available on Seva Sindhu Portal of Government of Karnataka.
• Beneficiary has to register themselves first.
• Aadhaar Card is mandatorily needed for beneficiary registration.
• Fill the below mentioned details in Registration Form :-
o ESCOM Name.
o Connection ID.
o ESCOM Account Holder Name.
o Account Holder Address.
o Aadhar Number.
o Mobile Number.
o Name of Applicant
• Preview the Application Form of Gruha Jyothi Scheme and Click on Submit Button to submit the application form.
• Submitted Applications of Gruha Jyothi Scheme will scrutinized by the concerned officials.
• After scrutiny of application, zero electricity bill will be generated of those beneficiaries whose monthly electricity consumption is below 200 units per month.
• Beneficiary can also check the Application Status of Gruha Jyothi Scheme by entering the Application ID.

6. Offline Application Procedure of Karnataka Gruha Jyothi Scheme

• Eligible Household Beneficiary can also apply for Gruha Jyothi Scheme by filling Offline Application Form.
• Offline Application Form of Karnataka Gruha Jyothi Scheme is available free of cost at below mentioned centers :-
o Grama One.
o Karnataka One.
o Bangalore One.
• Collect the Gruha Jyothi Scheme Application Form and Fill it Carefully.
• Attach all the documents with the Application Form.
• Submit the Application Form of Gruha Jyothi Scheme along with all the documents at the center from where it was collected.
• Received Applications of Gruha Jyothi Scheme will be forwarded for scrutinization to the concerned officials.
• After verification of applications, subsidized bills will be generated in favour of beneficiary with effect from 1st of August 2023.
• Beneficiary can also check the Application Status of Gruha Jyothi Scheme by entering the Application ID.
