Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has launched the Free Bus Travel scheme in the state of Telangana, which is part of mahalakshmi scheme.

Free Bus Travel launched for Woman in Telangana with zero ticket
Effective from December 9th after 1:30 p.m. eligible women in the state can travel anywhere within the borders of Telangana for free of cost. Government of Telangana has successfully launched its one of the guarantee schemes to facilitate free travel to all women in the state as part of its Mahalakshmi Guarantee scheme.
Women can travel in the below services for free of cost
– Palle Velugu Buses
– Express Buses
– City Ordinary
– Metro Express
Free bus travel for women in Telangana eligibility
All Woman who are residents of Telangana can travel free of cost in the above mentioned TSRTC services. They can travel all over telangana with free of cost. For inter state TSRTC Buses woman can travel free within the border and once border of state is crossed they will have to take ticket for remaining journey.
Free bus for ladies in telangana rules:
- Local Woman , Girl Children and Transgenders are eligible for this free bus travel scheme.
- Any state or central govt issued local address proof which determines nativity of Telangana can be shown by women while traveling within the state.
- Woman can travel any distance within the boundaries of the state.
- For inter state travel in TSRTC buses , there will be no ticket within the borders of the state and once the bus crosses the border ticket has to be taken for remaining distance in the other state.
- Woman can travel free of cost in all TSRTC Ordinary, Palle velugu, TSRTC Express buses, City ordinary , Metro buses. However this is not applicable while travelling in other bus services like AC or Airport buses.
Example of local address proof:
Aadhar with local address
Voter with local address
Ration card by Telangana govt
Nativity certificate or Passport, etc
The above documents should be on beneficiary name.
Govt said it would issue zero tickets to the woman while traveling. In the first phase the government is running this scheme across all 8524 bus services in the state and has mentioned that it would consider increasing the number of services based on the demand.
97 Depots, 8524 Buses to provide free services across 35 lakh Kms area in the state to 45 lakh woman beneficiaries. Around 40% of the commuters are women and shall benefit from the scheme.
