The Center has announced good news to the middle class. As part of the interim budget on February 1st, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that a housing scheme is being introduced for the purchase of houses and construction of their own houses for those who are eligible.
It was mentioned in the budget (Union budget 2024) speech that the dream of owning a home will come true for those living in slums and rented houses. Also, under the PM Awas Yojana, the target is to take up construction of 2 crore houses in the next five years.
Nirmala Sitharaman said that ‘PM Awas Yojana Gramin’, which was brought for the construction of own houses, continued even during the Covid period. He said that the target of construction of 3 crore houses will be reached soon. Keeping in view the growing population, the government has decided to continue this scheme for the next five years, she said. It has been explained that a total of 2 crore houses will be constructed. The Finance Minister has announced a new scheme in the budget to free the common people from electricity bills.
300 units of free electricity for one crore houses .
Finance minister said that a new rooftop solarization scheme will be introduced to provide free electricity of up to 300 units per month to one crore houses across the country. This will save household consumers charges. It is known that Prime Minister Modi announced this scheme during the inauguration ceremony of Ayodhya Ram Mandir under the name PM Suryodaya Yojana.
