NTPC confirms deal with AP Government to install solar panel on government offices

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has made an agreement with NTPC for installing solar panels on the roofs of Government buildings.

300 mega watt solar panels shall be installed across the buildings. This will save around 118 crore electricity cost every year over the next 25 years.

The government plans to reduce 3.41 lakh  tonnes of carbon emissions with this project. AP nedcap and NTPC had made this agreement in the presence of chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

The chief Minister shared the same as below.

Taking a step towards a greener future in line with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India guidelines, solar panels will be installed on all GoAP Buildings by the end of 2025. To facilitate this, an MoU was signed between NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd (NVVN) and New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd (NREDCAP) today.

This switch to solar energy will result in savings and significantly reduce carbon emissions. A 25-year agreement will ensure that the cost of solar power remains low, leading to big savings in the long run.

The estimated annual savings on implementing 300 MW Solar Rooftop Systems in Government Buildings is Rs. 118.27 Cr (assuming PLF @ 18%). The savings over 25 years would be Rs. 2957 Cr. We can achieve a reduction of Carbon Emissions to an extent of 3.41 Lakh Metric Tons per Annum or 85.25 Lakh Metric Tons over 25 years.
