TN Free Breakfast Scheme extension to feed 2.23 lakh school children

The government of Tamil Nadu extended the free breakfast scheme to government aided private schools on Monday. Chief Minister M.K Stalin inaugurated the scheme at St Anne’s School in Tiruvallur district, where he himself served to children and also ate breakfast along with them. With this expansion additionally 2.23 lakh school children will be benefited across the state.

Tamil Nadu Free Breakfast scheme was initially launched on 15th September 2022 further expanded in August 2023 to benefit around 18.50  school going children across 30,992 state-run primary schools.

With the latest expansion on 15th July to the aided schools the total beneficiaries under this scheme increased to 21.87 lakh.

Tamil Nadu Free Breakfast Scheme Menu:

Free Breakfast will be distributed daily from Monday to Friday on School Working Days. 13 types of food items are provided.
