Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu reviewed the status and present condition of roads in the state of Andhra Pradesh and ordered for immediate action.
He stated that the previous government did not pay any attention to the roads and people commuting on those roads. This led to heavy potholes over the roads across the state. He ordered to fill the potholes on a warfoot basis. He said that Rs. 300 crores shall be released for the same. The CM held a review with the officials of the Roads and Buildings Department at the Secretariat on Friday. As per officials a total of 7,087 km roads in the state require repairs for the potholes. Around 2,936 km of potholes on the roads need immediate attention. Post the review CM Naidu has called for tenders for the works and ordered the officials to start the work immediately.
As per the reports, Andhra Pradesh tops in South India in the number of Potholes.
The CM also ordered to survey all the roads in the state. If needed, a consultancy firm should be hired for this purpose and a report should be prepared. Basis reports the roads with heavy traffic can be selected and developed under Build, Operate, Transfer (BOT), he added.
