Bharat Rice: The Center has deepened its measures to control growing rice prices. It has come up with great news for common people. From next week, the government has zeroed to sell Rice under the brand name ‘Bharat Rice’. Bharat Rice will be priced at just RS 29.
Secretary of Food Ministry Sanjeev Chopra announced the same in a press conference on Friday that the sales will start from the 5th of February. This decision will give relief to the middle class as the price of rice has been increasing drastically in the country.
Chopra said that despite the ban on rice exports, prices have increased by 15 percent in recent times. National Agriculture Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Limited (NAFED), National Cooperative Consumers Federation of India Limited (NCCF) and Kendriya Bhandar have announced that rice will be sold at retail centres. Bharat Rice is also available on an e-commerce platform. Chopra said that ‘Bharat Rice’ will be available in 5 kg and 10 kg bags. He said that the Center has decided to sell five lakh tonnes of rice in the first phase in the retail market. It is known that the center is already selling Bharat wheat flour at Rs.27.50 per kg and Bharat dal (peanuts) at Rs.60 per kg.
Chopra responded to the news if restrictions on rice exports will be lifted. It has been clarified that the ban will continue until the prices are brought under control. Also, retailers, wholesalers and processors have been instructed to upload stock details on the ministry’s portal every Friday, he said. Is there going to be a limit on reserves? When asked by the reporters… he openly said that there is a possibility to take any decision if necessary. He said that the prices of all essentials except rice are currently under control in the country.
