Telangana’s current government assured that it would implement all poll bound guarantees within the 100 days of its formation.
In line with it, the government has already implemented a free bus travel scheme for women and Rajeev Aarogyasri limit enhancement to 10 lakh Rupees under its two guarantee schemes.
Now govt is planning to quickly implement its another promise under Mahalakshmi scheme which is providing cylinder at just ₹500 rupees to the beneficiaries.
It is understood from the sources that officials have proposed two options.
– to directly implement this scheme to all those having ration cards in the state, or
– to do a survey and then decide the eligible beneficiaries, which is time consuming.
As of today, in Telangana there are a total of 1.20 gas connections available. Of which 43,39,354 are from HPCL , 47,96,302 are from IOCL and 29,04,338 are from BPCL.
Of which 44% which means around 52.80 lakh consumers are utilising a refill every month.
In Telangana currently we have around 89.99% ration card holders. If the govt opts for the first option then all these would get cylinder at the cost of ₹500. If govt opts for a second option then a survey will be conducted which is time consuming.
There are around 11.58 ujjwala gas connections in the state. Who are getting an additional discount of 340 rupees on 955 actual cost.
If the congress govt provides 6 free cylinders to each family in a year then the total burden on the government would be 2225 crore. If the govt provides 12 cylinders at this cost then the burden would be 4450 crore.
