The central government has issued orders that those who cannot provide fingerprints for aadhar registration , can now register for the Aadhaar card through iris scan.
It said that these provisions are available to everyone who is eligible for issuance of Aadhaar. After a trouble faced by a woman in Kerala for Aadhaar enrollment came to light, the government reacted on this matter.
P Jose, a woman in Kerala, was eligible for Aadhaar issuance but could not get a card due to her lack of fingers. Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar responded on this matter. It is said that even if there is a disability or fingerprints are not correct, Aadhaar should be issued based on iris instead of biometric. Instructions have been issued to all Aadhaar Seva Kendras to issue Aadhaar through other alternative means when biometric is not possible for any eligible person.
Even for those who can’t use both the above options like biometric and iris, it is still possible to get aadhar. The government has already stated in the rules that Aadhaar should be given to those who are eligible even if they cannot submit iris and fingerprints. Aadhaar can be registered through photograph stating the reasons for not being able to submit these two proofs.
