The state government has given good news to women in Telangana. Girls, women, and transgenders in the state will be able to travel free of charge in RTC buses (TSRTC) from the 9th (Saturday) afternoon. The Mahalakshmi scheme is one of the six guarantees given by the Congress party before the assembly elections that women will be provided free travel in RTC buses under the Mahalakshmi scheme. However, the state government issued an order on Friday allowing free travel for women in the Pallevelugu and express buses. The state government will pay the entire fare of women passengers to the RTC.
CM Revanth Reddy ordered to issuing of guidelines regarding the Mahalakshmi scheme. We will start this
scheme from the Assembly premises at 1.30 pm on Saturday. Women ministers, CS, MLAs, and women employees will participate in this program. This is a historic decision in the public transport system. Public transport will be improved through this scheme. It will contribute to women’s empowerment. After COVID, the number of private vehicles has increased across the country. Due to this, the RTC had a severe impact. Road accidents and pollution are increasing due to the increasing number of vehicles. Free bus travel scheme protects women. Traffic problems will be reduced.
Women can travel from anywhere to the state border in the buses of Palle Velugu, Express, City Ordinary, and Metro Express. It is sufficient to show any locality verification identity card issued by the central and state governments. Zero tickets will be given to female passengers during the journey. 5.. After 6 days we will do zero ticket printing through the electronic machine. After a few days, we will review this and increase the number of buses according to the passenger traffic. At present 7,200 services will be used for the Mahalakshmi scheme,” RTC MD Sajjanar said.
