Cyclone Michaung Update

Severe wind storm which was formed in the In Southeast Bay of Bengal has turned into Cyclone on Sunday. This cyclone has been named as ‘Cyclone Michaung’.

Impacted States: Northern Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Southern Odisha and parts of Chattisgarh and Telangana.

Cyclone Michaung Landfall Expected Date: 5th Of December 2023

IMD Cyclone Warning: Fisherman are advised not to sail into the sea

This cyclone would move from South towards north west direction and is expected to cross the coast between Nellore to machilipatnam, Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh.Currently Northern Tamil Nadu districts Chennai, Thiruvallur, Vellore and Southern Andhra Pradesh districts are experiencing heavy rainfall.

As the cyclone move upwards several districts of AP viz., Prakasam , Bapatla, Krishna , Godavari might experience severe rainfall.

Post the cyclone crosses the coast around December 5th, even Telangana districts including Hyderabad may experience moderate rainfall.

South Central Railway has cancelled 118 trains, including around 40 trains between Chennai and destinations in northern states and those that pass through the city and connect to southern towns, from December 3 to 7 because cyclone Michaung is likely to make landfall between Nellore and Machilipatnam on Tuesday.

State Govts of Tamil Nadu and AP are taking steps to alert the people from the coastal areas impacted. Fishermen are advised not to go into the sea.
