It is known that on 24th November the Central Election Commission has given nod to poll bound Telangana allowing for the distribution of Rythu Bandhu for Rabi season.
However, the Central Election Commission has suggested that this distribution should be completed by November 28. But Telangana government did not distribute the same till 27th. Although distribution to happen on 28th, the Election Commission withdrew it’s decision post certain complaints flown to it on BRS violating the Election Code guidelines earlier issued.
What actually happened..
Due to continuous holidays to the banks on 25th, 26th and 27th of November respectively, the government has decided to release the amount by 28th.
The Central Election Commission has imposed certain conditions while allowing Rythu Bandhu distribution before elections. The disbursement is conditioned not to be used for political campaigning. No public announcement should be made in this regard.
However, the state finance minister made a public announcement about this. He stated that on Monday farmers would get cash directly into their bank accounts before finishing even their breakfast. This sparked the violation of code.
The Congress complained again that if Rythu Bandhu distribution is carried out this moment, it will impact the voters. It has also mentioned that the government is using it as a propaganda weapon.
Post such complaints and announcements being made by the current minister’s, EC has withdrawn its orders. EC has informed the State Election Commission on this matter.
As a result, Rythu Bandhu has been postponed for the time being for 70 lakh farmers.
On the other hand, the Congress argued that they are not against Rythubandhu, but they have asked to complete this distribution before November 15, but the government wants to do it by the end of the month and use it for election campaign. However for now, Rythu Bandhu will be deposited only after the next election.
