On March 14, the AP government issued an order creating 1,610 new posts in the public health and family welfare department under the medical department of Andhra Pradesh. The government has allocated
- 1,232 posts for the 88 PHCs to be newly established. In 63 mandals where there are CHCs, the remaining
- 378 posts have been allocated to implement the family doctor system along with doctors and medical staff at the CHC center. Besides, the government had earlier decided that the mandal should have two PHCs

Among the new jobs created by the government are
- Civil Assistant Surgeon – 302 posts,
- Staff Nurse – 264 posts,
- MPHEO/CHOO – 151 posts and other vacancies.
It is known that the government has already filled more than 48 thousand posts in the medical department. Medical services will be more accessible to the public with the newly recruited staff.
Ambitious family doctor..
- Medical and Health Minister Vidadala Rajini has directed the officials to ensure that the state government has introduced the family doctor system in a very ambitious manner and soon CM Jagan will start this program in full. Minister Rajini reviewed the budget estimates for 2023-24, YSR Kantivelugu, Arogyasree, Thallibidda Express, 104 vehicles, family doctor and village clinics at the head office in Mangalagiri on Monday with the heads of all departments of the medical department.
- She said that the Family Doctor District Nodal Officers should inspect the YSR Village Clinics in their respective assembly constituencies and correct any deficiencies. It has been clarified that there can be no shortage of medical staff anywhere in all the PHCs and YSR Village Clinics in the state. He ordered the drug control department to stop illegal sale of narcotic drugs and other drugs in drug shops. As part of the third phase of ‘YSR Kantivelugu’, screening of 35,42,151 elderly people should be completed in six months.
- He ordered to do surgeries and distribute medicines and spectacles to the needy. It is suggested to look into the possibility of providing transport facility for patients coming for treatment from home to hospital and from hospital to home after treatment. In view of the availability of 146 new 104 mobile medical units, they want to see how many of the old ones will be used for ‘Mahaprasthanam’ services.
