Filmfare Awards South 2024

The 69th edition of the SOBHA Filmfare Awards South 2024 took place in Hyderabad, honouring the outstanding achievements in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema of 2023. Given the increasing recognition of South cinema both nationally and internationally, many awardees were not just popular within their respective regions but also enjoyed widespread popularity across India.

The awards show, hosted by Faria Abdullah, Sundeep Kishan, and Vindhya Vishaka, showcased outstanding performances by Gayathri Bharadwaj, Saniya Iyappan, and Aparna Balamurali.

During the event, Nani took the stage to present Srikanth Odela and Shouryuv with the awards for Best Debut Director for their films, Dasara and Hi Nanna. Actor Mammootty also had a poignant moment as he received his 15th Filmfare award for Best Actor. He expressed how his joy was tempered by the grief caused by the Wayanad landslides in Kerala, which had led to significant loss of lives and livelihoods.

In Telugu, films like Dasara, Balagam, and Baby emerged as big winners, while in Kannada, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello took home major awards. The spoils were shared by Ponniyin Selvan 2 and Chittha in Tamil, and Malayalam witnessed a diverse array of winners.
