Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana, a new scheme launched by the government of India aims to provide electricity to low and middle-income individuals through solar rooftop installations, along with offering additional income for surplus electricity generation.
Prime minister Shri Narendra Modi made an announcement about this scheme on 22nd January 2024.
Free Electricity up to 300 units shall be provided under this scheme

Objective of PM Suryodaya Yojana
The Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana scheme, also called as Pradhan Mantri Solar Panel Yojana scheme targets to install solar panels on the roof tops on the houses belonging to the low and middle income groups in India. 1 crore houses to get solar roof top through this scheme.
Eligibility: Low and Mid Income Individuals or Families in India

How to apply for PM Suryodaya Yojana
Currently the government of India runs a portal for applying for a solar rooftop through the link here. However applications specifically under Suryodaya Yojana are yet to be rolled out.
Guidelines for the Identification of the eligible beneficiaries will be rolled out shortly.
