Grama Ward Volunteers working in the state of Andhra Pradesh have been asked to delete the social media groups or channels which they had created in the previous government.
Most of the village ward volunteers had created such groups on their own without any orders from the government to communicate the government information to the public in their cluster.
After the government changed, there is uncertainty over the duties of volunteers in the state. So far the new government has not issued any work orders to them. Prior to elections due to then code volunteers had surrendered their sim and mobile devices.
As most of the volunteers were in favor of the previous government, there have been allegations that these groups are being used to spread negativity in the public.
Pertaining to these concerns, the government issued orders from the GSWS department to the district administration to take care of closing all such groups immediately by 5 pm on August 5.
Also people in such groups have been advised to immediately exit from such groups. Director of GSWS Department Shiva Prasad issued such orders on 4th August.
