Ahead of the general elections, the central government employees got good news to cherish.
The center has hiked the dearness allowance (DA) by 4%. As a result, DA has reached 50 percent from the existing 46 percent. The government has said the revised DA will come into effect from January 1, 2024.
Nearly one crore central government employees and pensioners will benefit from the latest decision. Minister Piyush Goyal revealed that this decision was taken in the recent cabinet meeting.
With the latest decision taken by the central government on DA/DR, it is estimated that an additional burden of Rs.12,869 crore will be imposed on the exchequer every year. The government has stated that the impact for the financial year 2024-25 would be Rs.15,014 crore.
