Sumanth is an Indian Telugu film actor born on 9 February 1975 at Hyderabad, Telangana, India. He is grandson of great versatile actor Akkineni Nageswar rao, his father Surendra Yarlagadda is a film producer and his mother name is Satyavathi Akkineni who is a daughter of Akkineni Nageswar Rao, he has a sister named Supriya Yarlagadda who is a film producer. Sumanth is a partner in Annapurna Film studios.

Sumanth parents left him in Hyderabad and went to US on request of his grandfather Akkineni Nageswar rao, he attended Hyderabad Public School for his schooling later went to University of Michigan and enrolled in engineering course but after two years he changed his interest to film studies and shifted to Columbia College Chicago and did his graduation in direction and screen writing. He was married to film actress Keerthi Reddy in August 2004 and divorced in 2006.

Sumanth began his acting career with the movie Prema Katha in 1999, it was his first debut lead role movie directed by Ramgopal varma, and although it was not commercially successful it bagged five Nandi Awards for different categories. Later came Yuvakudu (2000) also didn’t performed well at screens, after came Pelli Sambandham (2000), Ramma Chilakamma (2001), Snehamante Idera (2001) were played average, he tasted success with the movie Satyam in 2003 and continued it with Gowri in 2004, came with the action sequence Dhana 51 and Mahanandi were left average, in 2006 he acted in Sekhar Kammula’s Godavari which was biggest success in his career and also bagged five Nandi awards for different categories after that he acted in many notable movie like Madhumasam(2008), Golconda High School (2011), Malli Raava (2007) Subrahmanyapuram (2018), Sita Ramam (2022), in 2003 he appeared in Danush’s Vaathi (Sir in Telugu) as A. M. Kumar IAS.
