Mohan Babu is an Indian film actor, producer, educationalist and politician, he was born as Manchu Bhakthavatsalam Naidu on 19 March 1952 at Modhugulapalem, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, his father Manchu Narayanaswamy Naidu is a school headmaster and his mother Manchu Lakshmamma is a housewife, he has three brothers Ranganath Chowdary, Ramachandra Chowdary and Krishna and a sister named Vijaya, he was given title of Viswa Nata Sarvabhouma for his excellence in acting, he is also famously called as Dialogue king and collection king, he has awarded with fourth highest civilian award of India Padma Shri for his contribution to art.

Mohan Babu did his graduation in Physical Education before entering into films he worked as physical education instructor at Kesari high school in Chennai, he was married to Vidya Devi, they have two children daughter named Manchu Lakshmi Prasanna, and a son, Manchu Vishnu after death of Vidya Devi he married her sister Nirmala Devi and this couple gave birth to Manchi Manoj Kumar, he served as Rajya Sabha from 18 April 1995 – 2 April 2000, he is also chancellor of Mohan Babu university.

Mohan Babu before appearing on screen worked in technical department for half decade he got his first chance to appear in the movie Kannavaari Kalalu in 1974, after that he acted in a negative role in Swargam Narakam (1975) directed by Dr. Dasari Narayanarao which was ahuge success and mde him famous among the people, after that he acted in more than 500+ films in various characters like lead role, negative role, character artist, in 1982 he established his own film production house Sree Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures and produced many pictures under this banner, Major Chandrakanth came under this banner starring NTR and Mohan babu was a masterpiece of Telugu Film Industry, he was awarded with Filmfare Best Actor Award (Telugu) for Peddarayudu (1995), Annamayya (1997), Sri Ramulayya (1999), Yamadonga (2007), Sri Jagadguru Aadi Shankara (2013), Pandavulu Pandavulu Thummeda (2014), Rowdy (2014) are only sone of his notable films, he was awarded with CineMAA Award for Best Supporting Actor for the movie Yamadonga, a book named Dialogue Book compiled of popular dialogues in his movies was launched in the House of Commons, British Parliament, on May 11, 2016, his recent films are Son of India in 2022 and Shakunthalam in 2023, presently he his working for Kannappa movie which is planned to release in 2025.

Political career

Mohan Babu joined Telugu Desam Party formed by late Shri NTR and served as Rajya Sabha MP from 1995 to 2000, he worked for development of Rayalaseema region, in 2019 he joined YSRCP and worked for former CM Y.S Jaganmohan Reddy.

Educationalist

He established Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust in 1993 in a view of providing quality education to students, he had Sree Vidyanikethan International School, Sree Vidyanikethan Degree College, Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College, Sree Vidyanikethan College of Pharmacy, Sree Vidyanikethan College of Nursing and Sree Vidyanikethan Institute of Management under his trust, in 2022 he got university status for his trust and named it as Mohan Babu University.
