Hi Nanna review:

Irrespective of the movie, Nani is the protagonist who chooses stories without considering image and trend. A mass avatar was presented on Dussehra. After that, he chose a completely different story of a father and daughter and made ‘Hi Nanna’ (Hi Nanna). Nani, who was at the forefront of making films with new directors, once again took steps in the same direction and introduced a director named Souryuv with this film. Before the release, the Nani – Mrinal Jodi, the promotional pictures were impressive. (Hi Nanna review) And how was this movie? Did the father-daughter characters share emotions?

Hi Nanna Story:

Viraj(me)A fashion photographer in Mumbai. His daughter Mahi (Kiara), who has been suffering from an illness since birth, lives in the world. Viraj has a habit of telling entertaining stories to his daughter. She imagines her father as the hero in those stories. One day, Mahi asks Amma to narrate a story. He says he will tell you if you come in first class. Amma studied hard for the story and got first class. However, Viraj does not tell Mahi the story of his mother. So she leaves the house. Yashna (Mrinal Thakur) saves the child from an accident on the road. After that both become friends. Viraj, who came looking for his daughter, finds her in a coffee shop with Yashna. There Viraj…. tells Mahi the story of his mother. This time Mahi assumes the role of her mother Varsha in Yashna. Who is that year? Why did the daughter leave Mahi and stay away? What is the relationship between Yashna and Mahi’s mother? How did the married Yashna love Viraj? Did that love last?

Hi Nanna Analysis:

This is a love story of Ammananna. Stories based on this background are not new to Telugu cinema. But, the twists and turns in this love story are new. Emotions that touch the heart stand strong. From the moment the child starts imagining the heroine as her mother, the audience gets an idea of the direction in which the story will go. However, the scenes produce the conflict that a love story needs. The twists and turns and emotions take the movie to another level. But the love discovered in this seems to have lost its strength. Actually there are two love stories in it. Viraj – Varsha story is one, Viraj – Yashna story is another. The first half moves a bit slowly as the magic that should be seen in those two loves and the chemistry between the couple is not up to the expected level. Falling in love and breaking up seem normal but do not share the feeling in a big way. Yashna falling in love with Viraj after hearing the story of Varsha and then the twist of Mahi Evari Koothuru make the movie interesting. In the second half, the director again shows his grip on the story with the ripe emotions.

The highlight of this movie is the emotions that grow in the background of the characters of father and daughter. In the first half, the child says ‘Let’s go from here, father’, in the second half, the child says to the heroine that you are not a real mother, and Viraj says to the child, ‘I have made a mistake, my love is not enough’, and the situations in which Viraj says to the child that you are not a real mother. Another major turning point is with Jayaram’s character at the end. When the question arises as to how the heroines will come together, there will be doubts whether Jayaram will tell the truth to Yashna or not. If that is done, this movie would have become normal. (Hi Nanna review) The highlight of this movie is that Yashna keeps her love saying ‘Varsha asked for divorce.. not me’. In the recent times, movies with this kind of emotions which are loved by the family audience, despite the story that reaches the imagination and slow moving scenes here and there, have not come. This movie will be successful in entertaining the target audience.

Actors Performance

Nani once again made hearts heavy with his acting. The main strength of this movie is the emotions that he cultivates with the child. Nani and Mrinal Thakur’s pair is good… The chemistry between the two is just the same for the love story. But both acted very well. (Hi Nanna review) Mrinal impresses with her performance in the love scenes and the pre-climax. Baby Kiara’s kiss was adorable and brought tears to her eyes. Priyadarshi, Angad Bedi, Jayaram, Viraj Ashwin and others will appear in pivotal roles. Technically the film is superior. The movie goes on with the scenes and music which are less than the story. Sanu John Varghese’s visuals and Hesham’s music haunt the audience. The production design and composition look perfect. Although this is the first film for director Souryuv, he has directed the film with great clarity and sophistication. He tried to tell the familiar story with new emotions. The structure is superior.

Strengths

  • + Emotions and twists in the story
  • +  Starring Nani, Mrinal, Baby Kiara
  • +  Music, visuals

Weaknesses

  • – Slow first half
  • –  An imaginative story

Finally… Hi Nanna… Touches hearts.(Hi Nanna review)
