Vijay born as Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar is a famous south Indian film actor, he was born on 22 June 1974 at Chennai, Tamilnadu, India, his father S. A. Chandrasekhar is a film director, and his mother Shoba Chandrasekhar is a playback singer, he was given name of Ilayathalapathy by his fans. He has a sister named Vidhya who died at age of two due to illness. He is one of the top paid actors in the country. He announced his political party launch on 2 February 2024 and named his party as Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

Vijay studied at Fatima Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Kodambakkam and later went to Balalok Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Virugambakkam and later attended Loyola College, Chennai and completed his Bachelor`s Degree in Visual Communication, he was married to Sangeetha Sornalingam, this couple have two children a son and a daughter, his son name is Jason Sanjay and his daughter name is Divya Shasha.

Vijay acted as a child artist in his father movies, he made his debut acting in Vetri film in 1984, later after that he acted in few more films as a child artist, he made his debut lead role in Naalaiya Theerpu in 1992, his next film is Senthoorapandi in which he acted alongside with Vijayakanth, his next movies are Rasigan, Deva, Rajavin Parvaiyile, Vishnu, Chandralekha, his commercial blockbuster film  Coimbatore Mappillai was released in 1996 after that he acted in many films he won Tamil Nadu State Film Award for best actor for the film Kadhalukku Mariyadhai, in 1998 he was awarded with highest civilian award of Tamilnadu  ‘Kalaimaamani’ by the Government of Tamil Nadu, in 2000 he received MGR Award for Thulladha Manamum Thullum movie, in 2004 his movie Ghilli became the first ever Tamil film to gross 50 crores, later he gave any commercial hits like  Sachein, Sivakasi, Pokkiri, in 2012 he made a guest appearance in Hindi film Rowdy Rathore, he gave many industrial hits in his career he also acted in top gross collected movies in kollywood history, in 2018 he received Best International Actor in UK, his recent movie LEO collected 600 crores of gross and The Greatest of All Time collected gross of 450 crores making 1000 crores for both the films, in February 2024 he announced that he will be filming his last movie which is his 69^th movie before entering into politics completely.

Political career

On 23^rd June 2008 he launched a flag for his fans club; in 2009 he started his social  welfare organization Vijay Makkal Iyakkam and supported AIADMK in assembly elections, in 2011 he supported anti-corruption movement started by Anna Hazare, his social welfare organization contested in local body election in 2021 in which he won 115 seats of 169 contested seats, on 2^nd February 2024 he announced his own political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). On 28^th October 2024 he conducted his first party public meeting at Vikravandi, Tamil Nadu in which nearly 8 lakhs of people were participated.
