Telugu superstar Jr NTR’s most awaited movie, Devara Part 1, will hit the screens on September 27, confirmed Dharma Productions, which Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar owns. On Thursday, the production company, which owns the film’s distribution rights, announced the release date amid much speculation.
A few days ago, the industry was buzzing with reports about the producers of Devara considering September 27 to release the movie. Earlier, RRR producers DVV Entertainment had locked the date for another highly anticipated Telugu movie, OG, starring Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan.
So, it seemed unreasonable to expect Devara would also be released on the same date. But with the latest announcement, it is crystal clear that Pawan’s OG has vacated the date, allowing the producers of Devara to occupy it.
The production of OG faced delays owing to Pawan’s political aspirations. He contested in the recently held Lok Sabha and Andhra Pradesh assembly elections and led his party, Jana Sena, to a thumping victory. With the elections concluded, Pawan is expected to return to shooting for his upcoming movies soon.
In the meantime, Devara Part 1 will mark Jr NTR’s return to the big screen after a two-year hiatus. The production of the movie took longer than expected as Tarak last year became busy with the Oscar campaign for RRR.
Written and directed by SS Rajamouli, RRR gave massive global popularity to Jr NTR and Ram Charan, so much so that Tarak was one of the fan favourites for an Oscar nomination in an acting category. It has been a long wait for the fans to see Jr NTR back in action on the screen, creating massive anticipation for Devara.
Devara is also expected to give a much-needed break to director Koratala Siva, whose career took a hit after the critical and commercial disaster of his previous directorial outing, Acharya.
