Sandeep Kishan is a young hero looking to make his presence felt. He is making films in a row.. but the expected level of success is not seen. So.. now he has high hopes for his latest release “Uriperu Bhairava Kona”. There are good expectations for this film directed by VI Anand. Both the released songs went well with the masses. And let’s see how impressive the movie is..!!
Story:
Basava Lingam (Sandeep Kishan) who does many jobs from pulling the auto, working as stunt man in movies and also works for the rowdy sheeters for money. He comes across heroine varsha bollamma in an unexpected scene. He indulges in a robbery of jewellery along with viva Harsha from a house. While they both try escaping from the police in a car they meet Kavya Thapar in mid way and all these three guys unexpectedly enter a village called Bhairava Kona. Bhairava Kona, is showcased as a village which is linked to the Garuda Purana. What is the relation of Bhairava Kona to Garuda Purana? Who live there? What strage things does Basava come across in that village? How did Basava get out of there? If you want to know the answers to all questions, you will have to watch at “oori peru Bhairava Kona”.
Acting Performance:
Sandeep Kishan lives with ease in any role. Sandeep Kishan played the role of Basava very soberly in this film. His acting, writing and mannerisms are not unnatural anywhere. While Kavya Thapar was fine as a modern girl, Varsha Bollamma was not impressed as a tribal girl. Even though she has limited screen space.
After many years, senior Tamil artist Vadivukkarashi impressed in the role of Peddamma. It would have been better if she had taken more care in dubbing. Because.. the heaviness of her character is missing in her voice. Viva Harsha and Vennela Kishore’s comedy entertains here and there. Ravi Shankar proved his seniority once again.
Technical category performance:
Shekhar Chandra once again entertains with his tunes. Even though there are only two songs, both are chart-busters. Also… Shekhar Chandra has taken due care in the background music. Cinematographer Raj Thota’s work is also good. Especially the way the action blocks are composed is good. A bit more could have been spent on production design & artwork. Although the point chosen by the director V.I.Anand as a story is very exciting, it does not work as a story.
Although the world-building is good till the first half, the events that happen in the same world in the second half are not so interesting. VI Anand impressed more as a director than as a storyteller. While some scenes are surprising, the scenes in the second half did not have the right logic or the audience could not connect with the movie.
Analysis:
For an interesting point, there should be an equally interesting screenplay. In the absence of that ( Ooru Peru Bhairavakona ) it is very difficult to immerse the audience in the movie or to keep the audience sitting in the theatre for two hours. In “Oori Peru Bhairava Kona”, the impressive story and the lack of good twists made the movie, which seemed to go on until the first half, stagnate in the second half. Climax is not so thrilling and looks supernatural. While the story connects supernatural forces to the real world, somewhere the director is not successful in convincing the audience.
