Khairatabad Ganesh is a popular idol of the Hindu god Vinayaka (also known as “Ganesh”) that is installed during the annual festival of Ganesh Chaturthi at Khairatabad locality of Hyderabad, India. Khairatabad Ganesh, also known as Bada Ganesh(means Big Ganesh) locally is one of the tallest Ganesh idols in the world. The idol Constructed annually and popular for its height, size and the laddu held in the figure’s hand, is worshipped during the 10-day festival where thousands of devotees visit every day. On the 11th day, the idol is immersed in the nearby Hussain Sagar lake of Hyderabad.

The Avatar of 2024 Khairatabad Ganesh is Saptamukha Maha Shakti Ganapati. It is 70 feet tall which has an inner core that is made up of 25 tonnes of steel and 35 tonnes of clay mixed with straw, rice husk and other ingredients to mark it eco friendly Ganesh idol. As per the reports the total cost of the idol is about ₹1 crore.
In 2024 as it’s been 70 years since it’s inception, designers have taken at most care to reflect 7 in the idol. 70 feet Saptamukha Vinayaka ( with 7 heads), Adhishesha crown having 7 heads, 7 hands each side of Lord Ganesha(total 14 hands) designed.
Khairatabad Ganesh Height History
The Khairatabad Ganesh idol was first constructed in 1954 with just 1 foot height and installed by Shankarayya, a freedom fighter. Since then he and his descendants have been managing the annual idol construction and worship through Sri Ganesh Utsav Committee, Khairatabad, Hyderabad founded by Shankarayya.
Khairatabad Ganesh idol was increased 1 feet height every year since 1954 and it reached 60m height in 2014 and 70m height in 2024.

Auction for the laddu for the year 2024 will be held before the immersion and the auction yet to take place. Last year the Laddu was sold at a whooping price of 1.26 crore rupees.
