APSET 2024: On behalf of the Andhra Pradesh Government, the Andhra University, Visakhapatnam is conducting the APSET 2024. For the candidates who seek to become Assistant Professors or Lecturers in universities and degree colleges of Andhra Pradesh, this eligibility test is very important for them. 

Clearing this test will make the candidates eligible for the post of Assistant Professors/Lecturers in 26 Universities, 146 Government Degree Colleges, and 1192 aided and unaided degree colleges within the state.

APSET 2024 Registration:

Step 1:

A registration link is provided on the official website of the Andhra Pradesh University.
The candidates need to fill up the registration form and that they also will be asked for a password.
This password and the registered email id are needed for completing the registration process.
Certain information of the registration form like Candidate Name, Father’s Name, Date of Birth, Email ID, and Mobile number can not be changed after submission.

Step 2:

After the first step of registration is complete, the candidate can get an email at the registered email address.
Using the registered email and password, the candidate can need to fill the rest of the form.
Scanned photograph, signature, and caste/disability certificate (whichever applicable) are uploaded.
The duly filled form is submitted together with an application fee.

ELIGIBILITY

  1. General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC (available on the website: www.ugc.ac.in in Humanities and Social Science (including languages), Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test. The Backward Classes (BC) /Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Third gender category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.
  2. Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course or candidates who have appeared for their qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for eligibility for Assistant Professor only after they have passed their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of BC/ SC / ST / PwD / Third gender category candidates). Such candidates must complete their Master’s degree or equivalent examination within two years from the date of SET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.
  3. Candidates belonging to the Third gender category are eligible to draw the same relaxation in fee, age and Eligibility Criteria for SET (Assistant Professor) as are available to SC/ST/PwD categories. The subject-wise qualifying cut-offs for this category would be the lowest among those for SC / ST / PwD / BC / General-EWS categories in the corresponding subject.
  4. The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination has been completed by 19 September 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.
  5. Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their Post-Graduation only. The candidates, whose Post Graduation subject is not covered in the list of SET subjects may appear in UGC-NET/Joint CSIR-UGC Test.
  6. Candidates with post-graduate diploma/certificate awarded by Indian University/ Institute or foreign degree/diploma/certificate awarded by the foreign University/ institute should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree/ certificate with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi (www.aiu.ac.in).
  7. The candidates who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Lectureship / Assistant Professorship held prior to 1st June 2002, are exempted from appearing in NET, being eligible to apply for the post of Lecturer / Assistant Professor anywhere in India. For SET held from 1st June 2002 onwards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Lecturer / Assistant Professor only in the universities/ colleges situated in the state from where they have cleared their SET.
  8. There is no age limit for appearing APSET.
  9. Candidates are neither required to send any certificates/documents in support of their eligibility nor printout of their Application Form (Confirmation Page) to APSET office. However the candidates, in their own interest, must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the Test. In the event of any ineligibility being detected by the APSET at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled and they shall be liable for legal action. APSET does not verify the information provided by the candidates during online registration and hence candidature will be purely provisional subject to the fulfillment of eligibility criteria.
  10. For eligibility to Assistant Professor in Universities it is governed by guidelines issued by UGC and Government of Andhra Pradesh from time to time.
  11. All legal disputes related to the SET shall be within the jurisdiction of the courts in Visakhapatnam Only.

The Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (APSET) is administered at several regional centers situated across Andhra Pradesh. APSET 2024 Exam Centres 

The regional centers function as examination venues for candidates taking the APSET examination. Candidates are assigned their examination centers based on their preferences or proximity to their location. Documents Required At Exam 

During the APSET exam, candidates are required to bring the following documents to the examination center: 

APSET Admit Card: This is a mandatory document and acts as the entry ticket to the examination hall. Candidates need to download and print the admit card from the official APSET website. 

Valid Photo ID Proof: A government-issued photo identification document such as Aadhar Card, Passport, Driving License, Voter ID, or PAN Card is essential. The name on the ID proof must match the name on the admit card. 

Passport-size Photographs: Candidates are typically advised to carry a few passport-size photographs, which may be used for administrative purposes during the exam. 

Candidates must ensure they have all the necessary documents mentioned above when they arrive at the examination center. Failure to present these documents may result in disqualification or denial of entry into the examination hall.

APSET 2024 Exam Pattern   

The Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (APSET) is structured with two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2, aimed at assessing candidates’ general aptitude and subject-specific knowledge. A thorough understanding of the exam pattern is essential for aspirants gearing up for the APSET 2024 examination. 

Exam Duration: 

Paper 1 has a duration of 60 minutes. 

Paper 2 allows candidates 120 minutes, offering ample time for tackling subject-specific questions. 

Total Marks: 

Paper 1 has a maximum of 100 marks, evaluating candidates on general awareness, teaching/research aptitude, and reasoning ability. 

Paper 2 focuses on the chosen subject and carries a weightage of 200 marks. 

Question Paper Type: 

Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 consist of objective-based questions, allowing candidates to choose the correct answer from multiple choices. 

Marking Scheme: 

Each correct response carries 2 marks. 

There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. 

Language of Paper: 

Paper 1 is bilingual, available in English and Telugu. 

In subjects like History, Political Science, Commerce, Economics, Education, Public Administration, and Sociology, Paper 2 is also bilingual to accommodate candidates’ language preferences. 

Negative Marking: 

The APSET 2024 exam pattern does not include negative marking, providing candidates the opportunity to answer all questions without the fear of deductions for incorrect responses.
