Sheikh Hasina Biography: Sheikh Hasina was former and the longest served Prime Minister of Bangladesh. She served five terms in the same position. She resigned to per post on 5th August 2024. Sheikh Hasina is the daughter of Banglades’s founding father, Mujibur Rahman, she embodies both the country’s independence struggle and its recent economic boom. Hailed by supporters for her economic pragmatism and social development programs, she is also criticized for growing authoritarianism, crackdowns on dissent, and a decline in democratic freedoms. The recent election, boycotted by the main opposition and marked by low turnout, cemented her dominance while raising concerns about Bangladesh’s future political landscape. She had to resign from the Prime Minister post amidst the protests across the nation which went out of control.
Sheikh Hasina fled to India post her resignation and is currently living in a safe accommodation provided by the government of India near Delhi.
