About Naveen Patnaik
Naveen Patnaik is an Indian politician, writer and former Chief Minister of Odisha representing the Hinjili Assembly constituency since 2000. He is currently serving as the leader of opposition in Odisha. He has been credited as the longest-served chief minister of Odisha and one of the longest-served chief ministers of any Indian state, holding the post for over two decades, and only the third Indian chief Minister after Pawan Chamling and Jyoti Basu to win five consecutive terms as Chief Minister of an Indian state. After such a prolonged journey as the chief minister for Odisha, for the first time after 2 decades his party lost the elections in 2024. He is the first president of the Biju Janata Dal since 1997. He served as the Union Minister of Steel and Mines from 1998 to 2000 and a member of the Lok Sabha from Aska from 1997 to 2000.
