Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections are in full swing. Also, the schedule for the by-elections in Wayanad and Nanded Lok Sabha seats as well as 48 vacant assembly seats in many states has been released.
In two other states of the country, assembly elections have been announced. The Central Election Commission has announced the schedule of Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly Elections on Tuesday. To this extent, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar disclosed the polling dates and other details to the media. He said that polling will be held in one phase in Maharashtra and in two phases in Jharkhand. While polling will be held on November 20 (Wednesday) in Maharashtra, elections will be held on November 13 and 20 in Jharkhand. It has been revealed that the counting of the election votes of these two states will be done on November 23.
By-elections for two Lok Sabha and 48 Assembly seats
Also, the schedule for the by-elections in two Lok Sabha and 48 assembly constituencies which are vacant across the country has been released. By-elections will be held for 48 assembly seats in different states along with Wayanad in Kerala and Nanded Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra. Polling will be held for 47 assembly seats along with Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency on November 13, Nanded Lok Sabha seat and one assembly seat in Uttarakhand on November 20 and counting of votes will be done on November 23.

There are 288 constituencies in 36 districts in Maharashtra. Out of these 234 are general seats, 25 are ST and 29 are SC seats. As of October 15, 2024, there are a total of 9.63 crore voters out of which 4.97 crore are male and 4.66 crore are female voters. 1.85 crore young voters in the age group of 20-29 years, 20.93 lakh people will exercise their right to vote for the first time. There are 1,00,186 polling stations for the election,” said Commissioner Rajeev Kumar.
Jharkhand Election Schedule
While there are 81 constituencies in 24 districts in Jharkhand, 44 seats are general, 28 are ST and 9 each. There are a total of 2.6 crore voters. Among them 1.29 crore women voters and 1.31 crore male voters. Out of 66.84 lakh young voters, 11.84 lakh are going to exercise their right to vote for the first time.
The term of the current Maharashtra Assembly, which has a total of 288 legislators, will expire on November 26 this year. Also, the term of the 81-seat Jharkhand Legislative Assembly will end on January 5 next year. Currently, the ‘Mahayuti’ coalition government formed by BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP parties is in power in Maharashtra, while JMM-Congress government is continuing in Jharkhand.
