Jyotiraditya M Scindia aka Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia is an Indian politician. A graduate of Harvard University and an MBA from Stanford Business School, Jyotiraditya has worked in prestigious private companies.
He began his political career as a member of the Indian National Congress, India’s oldest political party after the sudden death of his father and former union minister Madhavrao Scindia in an unfortunate accident. He was then appointed as ‘Minister of State for Independent Charge’ in Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s cabinet till 2014. He continued to represent Madhya Pradesh’s Guna constituency in the Lok Sabha till year 2019. In the 2019 general elections, Jyotiraditya Scindia lost the parliamentary election as Congress candidate from his stronghold of Guna, Madhya Pradesh to Dr. Krishnapal Singh Yadav, who was a family aide Scindia.
Jyotiraditya Scindia left the Congress Party after differences with the party’s high command and joined the Bharatiya Janta Party along with all his political supporters. Scindia was also instrumental in overthrowing the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh, which restored the Bharatiya Janta Party to power. The saffron party still gave him the award and he was inducted into Modi’s cabinet as Civil Aviation Minister.
