Dorababu Pendem was born in Pithapuram, Andhra Pradesh, India. He is a graduate of the University of Andhra Pradesh. He began his political career in 2004 when he was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Pithapuram constituency on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. He served in this capacity for one term.
In 2012, Pendem switched allegiance and joined the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), founded by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the son of the late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, a former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. This move reflected Pendem’s political adaptability and his alignment with the YSRCP’s focus on social welfare and development programs.
