Childhood and education 

Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu was born on September 4, 1957 at Narsipatnam in Visakhapatnam. His father’s family had some political background and was financially stable. Ayyannapatrudu has five brothers. He did his schooling in Narsipatnam and completed his BA in PR Government College, Kakinada. His grandfather was active in politics and held many positions. However, his father did not enter politics. Ayyanna Patrudu married Padmavati on June 1, 1983. They have two sons eldest son Vijay and second son Rajesh Vijay. His eldest son is very active in politics. Ayyanna’s family also possess several businesses. 

Political entry

It must be said that Ayyanna’s political life started from the student stage. Ayyanna Patrudu joined the Telugu Desam Party after liking the principles and policies of the Telugu Desam Party started by NTR. When NTR established the party he then invited youngsters to join the politics . It was then in the 1983 elections, Ayyanna Patrudu contested as MLA from Narsipatnam on behalf of TDP. He won in this election against Ramachandra Raju with a majority of 9 thousand votes. As a young leader 25 year old Ayyanna, stepped into the assembly for the first time. In 1984, NTR took him into his cabinet. He was given the opportunity to become the Minister of Technical Education. During this time, Ayyanna worked to establish a government polytechnic in the locality. Apart from this, Government Technical Training Institute and Degree College were established.

He again contested from Narsipatnam in 1985 elections. This time he won against Sriram Murthy. During this time the constituency has done many development works. But Ayanna, who contested from Narsipatnam for the third time in 1989 election, lost in that election. 

In the 1994 election, he once again contested as an MLA. He won against Krishnamurthy Raju in this election with a majority of 20 thousand votes. During this time i.e. between 1994-96 he worked as the Minister of Roads and Buildings. During this period hundreds of kilometers of Panchayat Raj Road in the remote villages of the constituency were transferred to RMP and developed.

In 1996, Anakapalli contested as a member of the Lok Sabha on behalf of the Telugu Desam Party in the elections to the 11th Lok Sabha and won as an MP for the first time. He contested as an MLA in the 1999 elections. This time he won with a majority of 8559 votes. As TDP won the most seats in this election, Ayyanna Patrudu got the position of Forest Minister.

Even during this period, special funds were allocated for the cultivation of Pedimikonda Nursery and Arilova Jaushadha plants in the constituency. Ayyanna won again as an MLA in the 2004 elections, but in that elections Congress government came to the power in the state. Post that Ayyanna was defeated in the 2009 election by Mutyalappa who contested from the Congress. Ayyanna won again in the 2014 elections as a legislator and was appointed into the cabinet led by Chandrababu Naidu. Ayyanna lost to ycp in the 2019 elections and he had to face many cases filed against him between 2019-2023 by then YCP government and CID. Despite all the hurdles and difficulties he once again won as the MLA from Narsipatnam for the seventh time in 2024 with a huge majority of above 90 thousand. In recognition of his service to the party and public as 7 times MLA, 1 time MP and 5 times Minister , the 16th Assembly of Andhra Pradesh unanimously elected him as the Assembly Speaker of Andhra Pradesh.
