Champai Soren is a prominent figure in Jharkhand politics and 7th Chief Minister designate of Jharkhand. He is a member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, representing Seraikella. He is a key leader in the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha party. He currently serves as the Cabinet Minister of Transport, handling crucial infrastructure development, and also oversees the welfare of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and Backward Classes. He played an important role in achieving separate separate statehood for the Jharkhand.

Son of Simal Soren, a renowned tribal leader and freedom fighter. Married to Manki Soren, who actively participates in social work.

Joined the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in the 1970s, drawn to their advocacy for tribal rights and social justice.
