2021

  • Durai Murugan was elected as MLA from the Katpadi constituency for the record 6th time back to back. He was appointed the cabinet minister of Water Resources in the DMK government led by MK Stalin.

2016

  • He was again elected MLA from Katpadi constituency on a DMK ticket.

2011

  • Durai Murugan contested from Katpadi constituency as a DMK candidate and registered victory over Appu SRK of AIADMK.

2009

  • He was in power of the Public Works Department portfolio on 13 July 2009

2006

  • He was elected as MLA from Katpadi of Tamil Nadu state as a member of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. After the 2006 Assembly elections, he was appointed Minister for Public Works in the Government of Tamil Nadu.
