Pema Khandu is an Indian politician and the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. He is the son of former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Dorjee Khandu. Since assuming office as chief minister in July 2016, he and his government have twice changed their party affiliation; in September from the Indian National Congress to the Peoples Party of Arunachal, and then in December 2016 to the Bharatiya Janata Party. Previously he had served as Minister of Tourism, Urban Development and Water Resources in Nabam Tuki’s government.

2011He won the bye election to his father’s constituency uncontested Mukto, as an Indian National Congress candidate
2010He became the president of the Tawang District Congress Committee
2005Pema Kandu became a secretary of the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee
31 December 2016Khandu and 33 of his loyal legislators resigned from People’s Party and joined Bhartiya Janta Party. He continues as chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh
17 July 2016Khandu took the oath as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Till 16 September 2016 he was associated with Congress Party. The party at the time had 47 MLAs in the 60-member state assembly.
16 Sept 2016 to 31 Dec 201643 MLAs, including Khandu, switched to People’s Party of Arunachal and again took oath as CM of Arunachal.
