Nitin Gadkari is an Indian Politician currently serving as the 40th Minister of Road Transport & Highways in the Government of India since 2024. He is serving as an MP from Nagpur, Maharashtra.

Nitin Gadkari was born in a middle-class agricultural family in Maharashtra’s Nagpur city, which is also the headquarters of the RSS. Mr. Gadkari’s mother had a great influence on him and she inculcated in him the spirit of social work. He was also inspired in his early life by the RSS and its mission of nation-building through selfless motivation to work for the welfare of all sections of society.

The imposition of emergency by Indira Gandhi in June 1975 was a turning point in his life and he decided to dedicate his life to serving the country rather than practising law. Mr. Gadkari has studied M.Com, LLB & Diploma in Business Management (DBM).

Nitin Gadkari was born on 27 May 1957 in Nagpur, Maharashtra. He belongs to a middle-class family and is rooted in traditional values and principles. He started his educational journey at Nagpur University. Where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Commerce. During his college years, he actively participated in student politics. Later he continued their academic study and earned degrees in Engineering, Commerce, and Law from Nagpur University. His solid foundation in commerce, law and governance help him to have a better future in politics and public service. While styling law, he was increasingly involved in social and political activities with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP. His association with the RSS provided him with invaluable guidance and mentorship. His academic achievement and student politics set the entry into mainstream politics. Inspired by the principles of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its vision, his journey started for politics and quickly earned recognition within the political circles of Maharashtra.

Political Career:

Nitin Gadkari’s political career started when he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and became involved in Maharashtra state politics. He managed several positions within the party and government including the Minister of Public Works Department (PWD) in the Maharashtra government. During his work under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Gadkari spearheaded various infrastructure projects that improved the state’s transportation network. His hard work and dedication make him president of the BJP. In 2009, he was elected as the President of the BJP. He brought innovative strategies and organisational reform to the party. Under his leadership, the BJP achieved electoral victories and solidified its position in the Maharashtra government. On 26th May 2014, he was appointed as the Minister for Road Transport and Highways, one of the senior most members of the Narendra Modi government.
