Shivam Dube is an Indian cricketer who plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket and Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. Born on 26 June 1993 in Mumbai, he is an all-rounder with the necessary temperament and skillset to shine at the game’s top level. Dube bats in the middle order with some explosive hits under his sleeve while also being a useful seam bowler for middle overs. His rise to prominence is another tale of inspiration. The Mumbaikar started his cricket in his formative years. However, at the age of just 14, he had to stop playing cricket temporarily due to financial and fitness issues. However, his passion for the game made him find a way, and after almost a five-year gap, he made a comeback battling health and fitness issues. He soon was selected for the Mumbai Under-23 at the age of 19 and since then he has been a part of professional cricket. After playing junior cricket for his state regularly, he made his Twenty20 debut in January 2016 for Mumbai during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Next year he made his List A debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He first came into the limelight after he smashed five sixes in one over on the final day of their Ranji Trophy match against Baroda in 2018. His impressive display in the domestic circuit helped him earn a contract in IPL with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for a whopping Rs 5 crore in 2019. Dube however remained a sporadic presence for the Bangalore-based franchise for two years before Rajasthan Royals snapped him in 2021. He played just one season with them. He was bought by Chennai Super Kings in 2022 and he has been a part of the squad since then. Dube has been a part of the national set-up as well although he is far from being a regular so far. In October 2019, he made his Twenty20 International debut against Bangladesh and a month later featured in ODI against West Indies.
