Nishant Sindhu is an Indian cricketer who is known for being a part of the U-19 Indian cricket squad that won the World Cup in 2022. Nishant started his cricket career in 2017, he played in the U-14 Dhruv Pandove Trophy tournament that was held in Patiala. He scored 290 runs and bagged 24 wickets in the tournament for Haryana. Later, in the same year, he became part of the U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy tournament and played the 61st match for Haryana against Delhi. He scored 122 runs and became the top scorer in the tournament. In 2019, Nishant performed really well by scoring 53 runs in the U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy for Haryana and defeated Jharkhand.
He debuted internationally by playing U-19 ODIs on 27 December 2021 against Afghanistan in Dubai. He has been part of other international ODIs against countries like Sri Lanka, Australia, the West Indies, England, and Bangladesh. In 2021, he scored 299 runs and 12 wickets for Haryana in the U-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy tournament.
In 2021, Nishant was selected for the India U-19 squad for the Asia Cup and U-19 World Cup. The Indian team won the tournament by 4 wickets in the final match against England.

Son of a state-level boxer, Nishant Sindhu too wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps but fell in love with cricket after joining the academy run by former Haryana first-class cricketer Ashwani Kumar.
Sindhu shot to recognition after scoring 572 runs and bagging 23 wickets in the U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy in 2018-19, leading Haryana to victory over Jharkhand in the final.
In the 2022 Under-19 World Cup in West Indies, Sindhu took 6 wickets from 5 games and was one of the top starts for his side. Ahead of the 2023 IPL season, Sindhu was roped in by CSK for INR 60 Lakh.

- Nishant’s father, Sunil Kumar, wanted Nishant to become a boxer because his father had to give up on his dream of becoming a boxer due to his family responsibilities. In an interview, his father said that when India won the T-20 World Cup in 2007, Nishant was three years old and was happy with India’s win.
