BR Sharath Profile
Sharath is an upcoming wicket-keeper batsman from Karnataka, who was living under the shadow of CM Gautham for a while before breaking into the Karnataka playing XI in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018-19. After the latter was dropped mid-way through the tournament, Sharath earned a debut where he scored a quick-fire 28 against Railways. In the final league game, he hammered 70 against Punjab and seems to have cemented his spot in the team.
Sharath’s meteoric rise in the last few years has been phenomenal. The KSCA unearthed his talent and sent him to train at the Durham County Cricket Club for a six-week exchange program in 2015. Sharath also boasted of good numbers in the U-19s for Karnataka and he was also the recipient of the ‘Best Batsmen’ award by the board in 2016 for his outstanding performances in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy and Cooch Behar Trophy. With CM Gautham slipping out of the reckoning, Sharath seems to be the long-term wicket-keeper prospect for Karnataka.
