Anmolpreet Singh Profile

Anmolpreet Singh created waves in his debut season in the Ranji Trophy at the age of just 19. With 753 runs at a staggering average of 125.50, he established himself as someone to watch out for. There had been signs of excellence in junior-level cricket before that. Part of the U-19 World Cup squad, Anmolpreet was one of the architects on India’s road to the final. He scored a vital 72 in the Semis against Sri Lanka and orchestrated a 97-run victory.

He made his first-class debut against Himachal Pradesh in 2017-18 and notched up a fifty in his maiden outing. There was little to note in an otherwise lacklustre season for Punjab, but in Anmolpreet, they had found a gem.

It was hard work for the stylish right-handed batsman in the following season, where the expectations were too great and the performances hardly lived up. But his talent had excited enough people, and a maiden IPL contract followed in the 2019 IPL auctions where he was snapped up by Mumbai Indians.
