ricky bhui

Ricky Bhui began his career with seven 30-plus scores, including three half-centuries, in his first nine innings at the Under-19 level in 2013. He was integrated into Andhra’s Ranji Trophy side the same year.

He then made a sparkling 79-ball 103 not out on List A debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and followed it with a fifty on T20 debut. However, things took a drastic turn, as poor form saw him lose his place in the Under-19 side. However, Sunrisers Hyderabad bought him in the 2014 IPL auction for INR 10 lakhs (approx. $16,500). “If I can get an opportunity to make a mark for Sunrisers, it would be like icing on the cake,” Bhui had said.

Even though he hasn’t got that chance in the IPL as yet, his franchise retained his services ahead of the 2016 auction after he scored two tons in three Ranji Trophy games in 2015. He also played for India in the 2016 Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh.

Ricky Bhui Profile

The only player from the Andhra Pradesh Ranji team to cut IPL 2018, Ricky Bhui was a part of two under-19 World Cup squads. He featured in the 2014 and 2016 editions and his poor performances in both led to him not being a regular in either of the tourneys.

But then he topped the batting averages for Andhra in the 2015-16 season and had a watershed season in 2017-18 where he racked up more than 500 runs at an average of more than 60. This caught the eyeballs of the Sunrisers team and they picked him up for 20 lakhs INR.

Along with former India under-19 player – Hanuma Vihari, Bhui forms a strong core for Andhra who have been improving leaps and bounds at the Ranji Level. Ricky will try to make a mark in IPL XI if given a chance.
