by his intellect, Madan Mohan Malviya invited him to study at the Banaras Hindu University.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In 1931, he earned a&nbsp;Bachelor of Science&nbsp;degree from the University of Calcutta.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Political_Career\"><\/span><strong>Political Career:<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Jagjivan Ram joined the&nbsp;Indian National Congress&nbsp;in 1931 and actively participated in the Indian independence movement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He was imprisoned twice for his involvement in the&nbsp;Civil Disobedience Movement&nbsp;and the&nbsp;Quit India Movement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In 1935, he co-founded the&nbsp;All-India Depressed Classes League, an organization dedicated to attaining equality for Dalits.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After India&#8217;s independence in 1947, Jagjivan Ram held various ministerial positions in the central government, including:<ul><li>Minister of Labour (1946-1952)<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Minister of Communications (1952-1956)<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Minister of Transport and
