He is currently the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Visakhapatnam North constituency and belongs to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rao has held various positions in the Andhra Pradesh government throughout his career, including Minister for Human Resources Development (2014-2019) and Minister for Infrastructure (2012-2014). He has also served as an MP for the Anakapalli Lok Sabha constituency (1999).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rao is a close associate of actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi and played a key role in the formation of the Praja Rajyam Party in 2009. However, the party merged with the Indian National Congress in 2011, and Rao subsequently returned to the TDP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In recent news, Rao has denied rumours that he is planning to leave the TDP and join the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).
